Mr. Spiral, Silent

Last week, I began a two-week descent into ambient music that plays with the topic of silence, and featured a ton of short-form music by many artists we love. This week, we’re going longform, with tracks by Tim Kays, Lily Pond Orchestra, and Paul Vnuk Jr. —in the latter case, his utterly amazing album Silence Speaks In Shadow, from which I’ll play an excerpt.

Before I do any of that, though, I’ll be doing a Live Ambient Rant, as an apology for the last-minute streaming failure that prevented the live broadcast of the mindSpiral planetarium show last Friday night. Yes, we did the show… the blizzard was over by mid-afternoon and the roads were warm enough to be dry by the evening… but the stream decided not to work. So! Tonight, some new music I worked up specifically for the show, that I’ll recreate as solo work while simulating Mark Mosher’s parts. (I’m doing the Rant first, because I expect listener numbers to drop off when the lunar eclipse begins. We’re just that kinda audience.)

As always, the fun begins at 9/8/7/6 PM on https://radiospiral.net, and in the Orlov sim in Second Life (Spring isn’t quite here yet, but we’ll pick a holodeck that’s not too chilly). See you there!
