Hello, everyone! For those of you who might not have heard, Mike Metlay’s program Spiral has moved to Monday nights—this lets Tony Gerber’s Ambient Sunday performances run earlier for a larger audience, and (along with Space For Music‘s move to Thursday) puts at least one live DJ on the air, usually with live music performances, every day of the week. We’re incredibly proud to hit this milestone, and we thank you all for your support.
Tonight is April Fools’ Day, a holiday I truly despise for the cruel nature of many of its pranks, and one where I normally hide away from the world. I can’t do that tonight, but I will be focusing on the subject of Truth with songs by Kuutana, Lucette Bourdin, onewayness+dRachEmUsiK, December Nightskies, and others, as well as another try at a Live Ambient slantRant.
Also—and this is not an April Fools’ joke—this will be the last Spiral with that title. As RadioSpiral has grown into a vibrant community with an incredibly skilled and supportive staff and a great audience, I am proud to be its founder—ow! OW! COFOUNDER! Sheez, Gypsy!—and to have my nickname on it. But the people who “put the Spiral in RadioSpiral” are my fellow DJs and support staff, and I don’t need my weekly show to reflect that any more. So, next Monday, I will premiere the new name for my weekly journey into oddness and obsolescence, once I figure out what it is. (Show up in Slack or Second Life and make a suggestion I end up using, and get a couple of free albums.)
The fun begins at 8/7/6/5 PM E/C/M/PDT on radiospiral.net, and in the Orlov sim in Second Life. See you there!
