Hello there everyone. Metlay here.

Sunday, September 2, will be a pretty unusual day on RadioSpiral — my regular show is being partly pre-empted by the Friends & Family Fest, an all-day music festival running from approximately 1500-2300 Mountain Time.

We think.

Here’s the thing, gang:

If you’re in the Denver area, you can and should come by and catch the festival live, at the Seventh Circle Music Collective (google it). It’s an all-ages show, they’re asking for donations of a very reasonable amount for so many acts ($10-$12), and the people are likely to be pretty cool. It should be a lot of fun.

However, I know nothing about any of the acts other than mine and that of the festival coordinator Drew Miller (Brother Saturn), I know nothing about the venue and Drew is way too busy to hold my hand over it, and I know nothing about the network connectivity that the stream will rely on… which may go south as more people show up with smartphones in their pockets.

In other words, I have no idea what the music will be like and I have no idea if I will be able to stream it.

So! My best recommendation is that you listen to RadioSpiral throughout the day and evening. (You should anyway.) When I’m not on the air, Spud will be bringing you our usual mix of fantastic music, and when I am, I will try (emphasis on “try”) to put out a Facebook notice on the RadioSpiral page at the start of each set, once I’ve determined that the material works for the station. I will be curating and streaming on the fly. What fun!

Here’s the approximate schedule (all times listed are Mountain Time, as the event is in Denver.:

2:45 pm: doors
3:00 – 3:30: Metlay
3:45 – 4:15: Shocker Mom
4:30 – 5:00: Equine
5:15 – 5:45: Ambersmoke
6:00 – 6:30: Tunica Externa
6:45 – 7:15: Eraserhead Fuckers
7:30 – 8:00: RNP
8:15 – 8:45: J*Sutton
9:00 – 9:30: Adam Selene
9:45 – 10:15: MYTHirst
10:30 – 11:00: Brother Saturn

I will have my streaming setup on hand and will do voiceovers when appropriate or possible, and will have one eye on Slack chat… assuming we can get a steady stream. If we can’t, then all bets are off, and I won’t be able to get home in time to do my show, so… yeah.

But that’s all details and logistics. All YOU have to do is tune in. Leave the stress to me, and kick back to enjoy a bunch of live music!

We hope.
