Tonight I’ll be on at my usual time, but playing live for the whole two hours. It’s InnFest, a celebration of the 10th anniversary of Innsmouth, the Second Life gathering place for fans of HP Lovecraft and his ilk. At the Sci-Fi con earlier this year, RadioSpiral got the attention of the festival organizers, who asked me to prepare a Lovecraft-themed show for their program. I agreed, because I rarely turn down SL gigs, but then realized that I am not a fan of Lovecraft at all. What to do?
Answer: put my own spin on it, of course! Tonight, I’ll play a 2-hour improvisation based around the appearances of Lovecraft’s creatures… and the man himself… in the wonderfully bent 1970s counterculture novel ILLUMINATUS!
Thrill to the voices of Paul Harriman (as Detective Danny Pricefixer), Gypsy Witch (as Mama Sutra), Rebekkah Hilgraves (as Mavis), Joe McMahon (as Saul Goodman), and Tim Walters (as Mr. Lovecraft himself), with yours truly filling in the rest of the voices.
It’s going to be a wild ride, and I hope you’ll join us at the Opera House in Innsmouth (there’s a landmark vendor at RadioSpiral HQ) or in Slack chat, where I will NOT be tonight because I’m gonna be DAMN BUSY. Fun begins at 8/7/6/5 PM… see you then.
