Disappointing news first: there will be no Meander on Tuesday, November 24. Prior commitments will keep me off the air, for which I apologize; Meander will resume with its regular programming next Tuesday December 1.

However, that doesn’t mean you won’t be hearing from me this week! This Saturday night November 28 at 8/7/6/5 PM E/C/M/PST, I will be performing live on Nick’s Virtual Garage, a weekly series of electronic music house concerts sponsored by Nick Mellis, host of the real-world Nick’s Garage concert series in the Before Times.

Normally, musicians stream from their studios with audio and video. In my case, the visuals will instead be from the virtual world of Second Life, where my colleague Diana Smethurst (aka Gypsy Witch) has created a virtual concert venue for the event. Gypsy will be broadcasting the video with my audio, and recording the whole concert for later availability.

Avatars within Second Life are welcome to attend in (virtual) person – please be on time and try to minimize the use of gestures for the sake of the video audience; the video will be broadcast on Twitch, YouTube Live, Facebook Live, and probably a couple of other places; and for folks who just want to close their eyes and listen, the audio stream will be broadcast on RadioSpiral as per usual.

I’ll be playing for an hour or a bit more, the visuals will be a lot of fun (way more fun than watching a greying fat guy in a grungy basement flailing around on a few “real” synths and a couple of iPads – seriously!), and hopefully RadioSpiral will pick up some new listeners in the process.

See you all Saturday!
