Notes from the Studio
It was in March, 2009, that I had this wacky idea, being bored of playing and worried that I was in fact being boring while playing. The idea was to challenge myself with a 2 hour long live performance, mostly prepared in the hours before the performance. Thus, Edison’s Ephemera was born. It definitely changed how I looked at myself as a player and as a composer and improvisor.
Here is the 195th of these 2 hour performances, and I think it’ll be good, having just made most of it up, which is how this is supposed to work.
Here it is, middle of June, and the temperature dropped literally by half (from 28C to 14C) this afternoon. And it’s coming on the Summer Solstice, not really my favourite mark of the year, but yeah we’re halfway through 2022 already and more than 13 years have passed since I thought it would be cool to challenge myself. It’s as much a challenge to keep it up now, although I do surprise myself, as it forces me to continue to compose. Whether any of it will ever make it into an actual album, I don’t know, there’s enough for 15 albums I think.
Anyway, I’ve got a fun journey planned and I hope you’ll consider listening in.
It’s the 19th birthday of Second Life and I got my exhibitor’s tag yesterday so I’ll be performing at the SLB Electrify region this time. I haven’t managed to play at the new RadioSpiral home, story of my life, too much is happening, I will also, as usual, perform in Opensim in The Dome, now in the Sharing is Caring Family grid. You don’t have to go to either, but if you’re inworld, feel free to stop in. Otherwise, simply tune in to radiospiral.net (instructions below) and listen in, all ears are appreciated.
And we have our Discord chat, if you want to hang out there. I think it’s turned out much better to use Discord, it certainly works better for me.
Thanks for your continued support. We at RadioSpiral appreciate all of your listening time, and wish you a happy weekend.
