The weather here is warming up a bit at last, and coming out of a very rare streak of cloudy days into the usual Colorado winter sunshine has been a relief. But it’s not Spring yet, and this week I’m continuing our theme with songs about sand – a very popular topic in ambient music, for some reason. (For the life of me I don’t know why we don’t have hundreds of songs about, say, chocolate.) Meander is my time, Spiral Sands is my Second Life avatar, and voila, a truly terrible name for what should be a truly inspiring show.
Our first hour will be rhythmic, with a hint of tribal percussion and sequence glitch to keep things moving forward, with tracks by Ma Ja Le, Brother Saturn, Palancar, Charles Denler, Sayana, Phillip Wilkerson, Julien Mier, and Alpha Wave Movement, winding up with a suitably sandy Live Ambient slantRant. In our second hour, we go drifty and contemplative with longer pieces by Lucette Bourdin, Dan Pound, ontol, La Ponto Ensemblo, and Altus.
Come join the conversation in our Discord, visit us in Second Life (technically we’re at the Beach Shack, but look around when you get there – Spiral might be terraforming some new sandy experiences nearby), or just listen in. We start at 6 PM PST / SLT. See you then!
