Alias ZoneĀ is the project name given to the music releases of Chris Meyer, a New Mexico-based artist whose work encompasses everything from intricate modular synthesis patterns and textures to field recordings and experiments with modern digital synthesis methods. What makes his music so special is how emotional resonance and connection outweighs the need for blips, bleeps, and bloips when he uses these tools. It’s modular music that is, for want of a better expression, more musical than modular.
In tonight’s first hour, we’ll hear tracks from Chris’ latest album Water Stories ā a collection of harmonic drones and gentle rhythms commingled with the sound of melting snow from high in the Rocky Mountains, which captured Chris’ imagination on a trip some years ago. The second hour will feature a couple of Alias Zone singles that are slated to be released (in somewhat different form) on a future album. I am also planning to play aĀ Live Ambient microRant sometime during the second hour of the show.
Come join the conversation in ourĀ Discord, visit us inĀ Second LifeĀ (in keeping with this week’s theme, we’re hanging out at the Beach Shack by the ocean, so wear your board shorts), or just listen in. We start at 6 PM PST / SLT. See you then!
