Our dear sister Gypsy Witch has been isolated for months, and thereby avoided COVID. She had a visitor stop by, and bang, she’s sick in bed. Bleah! We can haz a sad. 🙁

As a result, I’ll be doing tonight’s Around The Campfire as a sequel to last night’s Meander, continuing our theme of beautiful and comforting music for cold winter nights. This is especially relevant to me, as last night was rather mild here and tonight we’re in the midst of a high-speed Arctic Blast.

Once again, we are bringing you the music of chillmeister extraordinaire Michael Carss aka Altus. Last night we heard Winter Embrace and Winter Embrace II. Tonight, our first hour will be Winter Embrace III, completing the trilogy (so far) of these albums.

Our second hour will be an extremely rare recording of an extremely rare event: Altus playing live on online radio! (I don’t think it’s happened more than a half dozen times, ever.) This performance took place on December 1, 2007, and after it was done, longtime RadioSpiral fan Pyracantha Michael (aka Altocumulus) gave it a name, as she often used to do: Toward the Winter Solstice. It’s a bit more spontaneous than its three winter predecessors, but still brings that amazing Altus magic that warms even the coldest winter night.

Come join the conversation in our Discord, visit us in Second Life (dress warm, as we’ll be ice skating in Narnia tonight), or just listen in. We start at 6 PM PST / SLT. See you then!
