My friends know that I positively despise April Fools’ Day, and basically hide from the world all day. But this year, I got to thinking: what if I could take the concepts of “April” and “Fool” somewhere else?

April is a month of changeable weather here in Colorado; yesterday I was out and about in a T-Shirt, and right now there’s a snowstorm outside that might turn into a full-on blizzard. And the word “fool” doesn’t necessarily mean a foolish person; it can apply to a jester, or to light-hearted behavior (tomfoolery). So: I came up with the idea of April Foolery, and this month that’s what I’ll be bringing you.

The idea is simple: for all of my April shows, I’ll be playing as much music as I can get my hands on that’s cheerful and uplifting and energetic, leaving the deep and thoughtful and meditative stuff for another time. Most of the tracks won’t be funny, per se, but hopefully they will make folks smile. Let’s see if I can get through all of my shows without running out of tracks from our library that are in – gasp! shock! horror! – a major key. (Or at least modulate to one somewhere for a little while! I’m not making things too hard for myself. After all, we old-school electronic musicians are a sour and gloomy lot.)

Tonight, we’ll hear tracks from Building Castles Out Of Matchsticks, The Detritus of Love, Magnus Josefsson, Arctic Hospital, The Lovely Moon, Jim Ottaway, Hope Street House, Astral Navigations, Stereocolors, Julien Mier, bertuf, and others… including several standbys that we can always count on to make us smile, and that we’ll feature multiple times this month: SinQ, deeB, kalabi, Nienvox, Boogie Belgique… and of course, Ozone Player and Slaw. How can you go wrong?

Come join the conversation in our Discord, visit us in Second Life, or just listen in. We start at 6 PM PST / SLT. See you then!
