A long day, followed by show prep and ultimately an Ephemera performance.

The long day was dictated by Real Life, in which my job, which I’m not quite ready to retire from, has me doing things I did 20 years or so ago, because I seem to be good at it. Turns out doing sound for years prepared me for organising cables during a desk move, who knew.

11 hours later, I walked out of the office directly into Pride Day, which I would have rather have just gone to, but as I wanted to go home, I had to walk a mile to the tube station that was open, because all the tube stations I usually use were closed (“exit only”) because the Pride Parade was going down Picadilly, which is one street over from where I work. So I walked to Victoria, first time I ever had to do that, caught a Victoria Line train to Euston (my alternate route home) and caught a train home. I ended up taking about an hour and 15 minutes instead of the usual hour, basically the time walking to Victoria.

So, although I am a bit fatigued I think I got a nice show to do, some more along the vein of the last show I played, usually when I think it’ll be good, it is (when I think it’s horrible it turns out great, so I don’t know why I try to predict these things).

The last news I posted, I said I’d change the archives to only have the last 10 shows. Trying to host 120 2 hour long 128k MP3s was getting overwhelming for a lot of reasons. I’ve rearranged the archive page at https://aegura2.harriman4.com/ephemera.php so you can get the last 10 performances, in this case including one I did that was for a virtual world art exhibit opening.

The series is still an exploration of improvisation, although I’ve built up a small arsenal of little pictures to try to illustrate my feelings while I play for you. It’s still all me, although the studio changes around me, and my moods change in spite of me, and my emotions get tugged around by my own music.

I hope you listen in and share in the journey, my little stories painting scenes via my music.

The show starts at 3PM PDT/6PM/EDT/23:00 BST/00:00 WST
