Ryan O’Rourke, a.k.a. Re-Think, is based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and is a creator of electronic music that’s rhythmic, atmospheric, and heavy on the emotional cues. He’s quickly become a favorite of mine among RadioSpiral’s many artists, and tonight I’ll bring you a selection of music from his growing catalog.
In our first hour, we’ll hear tracks from his early EPs and singles, including a couple of remixes of other artists’ work. There will be cascading sequences, rich soundscapes, trippy rhythms, the occasional actual vocal line (!), and once or twice, maybe even…. wubs. (gasp!)
Our second hour will be devoted to the album Cloaked In Thunder, released in 2021. It features a smoothly evolving arc of musical vignettes that represent a single facet of Ryan’s sound, examined from a variety of angles. Beautiful, fascinating stuff, and not to be missed. (But no wubs. I think.)
Join me at 6 PM PDT / SLT to celebrate the remarkable work of this young composer. I don’t know if Ryan uses Discord, but I am hoping he might drop by and say hello in our chat. We’ll also be in Second Life, hanging out at the Beach Shack to enjoy the sunshine and work on our virtual tans while we listen.
